What to Expect at Rehab Sessions
Depending on your pets condition and progress in therapy, we will schedule sessions more frequently initially, and then taper down. We allot 45 minutes for each pet’s session. The sessions may consist of any of the following therapies:
- Underwater Treadmill
- Therapeutic Exercises
- Manual Therapy
- Myofasical Trigger Point Release
- Laser Therapy
- Neuromuscular Stimulation
We prefer for the pet owner to NOT be in the room during the sessions as this is distracting to the pets in the gym. We need the pet to focus on us to get as much out of their session as possible!
We are happy to take pictures and videos so you can see what your pet is doing in therapy and monitor the progress.
If your pet participates in the underwater treadmill, please advise us of any skin lesions, urinary tract infection, or GI upset.
If your pet has had diarrhea in the last 24 hours, he may NOT be in the treadmill. Also, please be sure your pet’s hair coat is clean and free of feces and/or debris.
If your pet has an illness or health concern that is not related to the condition we are treating, you will need to seek care at your regular veterinarian. We cannot offer treatment or advice as we are a referral practice for rehabilitation and pain management only.
River Canine Rehabilitation is Southwest Missouri’s only fully equipped rehabilitation center. We offer a variety of therapies to meet our patient’s individual health needs.
