Nutritional Counseling
Diet is one of the biggest aspects we can control that directly affects our pet’s health. A high quality diet will act to provide support to the immune system, help the body work more efficiently and can prevent health issues. We will evaluate your pet’s current diet to determine if it provides adequate protein support.
Occasionally, a prescription diet is recommended to achieve optimal effects. We most commonly utilize Hill’s Prescription diet:
- Hill’s j/d diet: This prescription diet helps to preserve joint cartilage, helps to maintain healthy weight, supports the immune system and reduces inflammation in the joints due to high concentration of Omega 3 fatty acids. Pets fed this diet oftentimes can have reduced medication dosage, which then reduces side effects.
- Hill’s Metabolic diet: This prescription diet has been clinically proven to work with your dog’s metabolism to lose weight. 96% of dogs will lose weight in a 2 month period and keep it off.
- Hill’s Metabolic + Mobility: This is combination of the two food described above! You get the benefit of weight loss and joint protection! It’s a win win!!
For special need patients or clients that prefer a homemade diet, we work with the veterinary nutritional specialists at the University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine. Click here for more information.
